Today’s post is a little different to usual but I thought some of you may be in the same position so I thought I’d share.
I’ve been feeling like I wanted to change my hair for a while now, and with Summer coming up, I felt now was the time to add some lighter tones and embrace a more summery style.
For those who don’t know, before I went for my new look, I had long, quite dark hair, and I decided I wanted to add some more blonde and lighter brown tones into my hair.
I have to admit, I forgot to get proper before and after pictures, so you’ll have to see the transformation through these selfies!
I did what I think a lot of people do, and took a picture to my hairdresser and said ‘this please’ and to be fair, she did a pretty good job.
She used a technique called ‘balayage’ which is kind of like a more blended version of a dip-dye, the colour is taken further up the head and intergrated more through out the hair.
My hairdresser used a few different shades of blonde and I had a combination of foils and then colour applied directly to the hair all over.
I kept my roots my natural colour but there’s a variety of different shades running through my hair now, which looks really cool tied up.
My hairdresser told me that my hair will lighten, and the blonde will become blonder which I’m looking forward to seeing. She also told me this hairstyle is really low maintenance and the colour will grow out naturally and won’t really require regular refreshes.
I had a very tiny trim as well, so small you probably can’t tell!
Overall, I was in the salon for 2 and a half hours, which went really quick and was actually a lot less time than I expected!
I think I’m going to use some purple shampoo to cool the tone of the blonde, but that’s just a personal choice, I do love the shade it’s gone.
I think this colour works really well when the hair is curled, you can see all the different colours really well.
I hope this has given you some inspiration if you were looking into having a colour change for summer.
I sometimes feel the picture of Google images can feel a little unrealistic so hopefully this feels a bit more achievable.
I’d love to hear about your hair transformation for the upcoming season if you’ve had one!
