One of the biggest fears or anxieties for people on holiday is stripping down to your swimwear and heading to the pool, so if you are feeling nervous about that, you’re not alone.
I don’t think it matters how big or small you are, everyone gets a little apprehensive when it comes to heading to the pool in your swimwear.
I for one definitely get nervous for that, but I’ve found some ways of making myself feel a little more confident, so I thought I’d share these top tips with you to help you feel a little better about yourself when it comes to sporting your swimwear.
1. Experiment With Your Swimwear
We’re very lucky nowadays that there’s such a range of different kinds and styles of swimwear out there, so you’re bound to be able to find something that fits and suits you perfectly. So many of us get stuck in a rut with swimwear and wear the same old style year after year, but don’t be afraid to experiment with swimwear. Take a trip to the shops and try before you buy. Internet shopping is great but it doesn’t always go well when it comes to swimwear, so testing out different styles before you buy is the best way to find what works for you best and makes you feel most confident. If you love your swimwear, you’ll feel 1000x better.
2. Fake Tan
You’re probably going to think I’m either crazy or fake tan obsessed (or both), but seriously, if you want an instant boost of confidence by the pool, fake tan is your best friend. I get a spray tan a day or two before I go away and wash it off before we get on the flight so I won’t be staining things or getting marks but it means I’ll arrive with a tan which makes me feel slimmer and more toned, as well as more confident in my clothes, especially swimwear. If you wash the top layer of tan off before you get in the pool, there’ no worry you’ll end up turning the water orange!
3. Work the Cover Ups
If you genuinely don’t feel good in swimwear, then focus on something else like your cover ups. If you have no intention of baring all in a bikini then don’t waste your money on them, buy cheaper swimwear and splash out a little more on cover ups you love and feel good in, then you’ll still feel confident poolside.
A lack of confidence usually shows in your posture, which in turn won’t show your figure off at its best. Even if you’re faking it, acting confident is the best way to feel it. Ensuring you have good, confident posture will make you look taller, thinner, and in turn better. If you stand up tall, shoulders back and head high, and avoid slouching, you’ll look and feel 10/10.
Whether you feel bikini ready, or your pre-holiday fitness regime went out the window, we can all feel 10/10 by the pool, especially if you follow these simple tips.
I’d love to hear your tips for feeling super confident in swimwear, so share any of your secrets below!
