Christmas is just around the corner now which for many of us means the buying and wrapping of gifts are done, the decorations are up and the stashing of festive foods is well underway, which means attention can turn back to beauty and most of all our makeup look for the big day!
The idea of a special makeup look for Christmas Day might seem a little over the top to some but I know for many, Christmas is a time to break out the luxury products in your collection that get saved for special occasions or go a little bolder than normal.
I’m going to share with you my top Christmas makeup must-haves that I think everyone needs in their collection ready for the special days to make your makeup for the occasion as festive and fancy as possible.
A Special Nude Lipstick
You were probably expecting me to say a bold lip is an essential for Christmas Day but I actually think the exact opposite, a nude is the ideal finishing touch to your festive makeup look!
Christmas is all about food and eating and a lot of bold lip colours don’t really lend themselves to being worn during roast dinners and buffets, whereas a nude lip will look good throughout the indulgent times and won’t take as much maintenance.
It’s nice to break out a special nude lipstick for Christmas, so if you have a premium one you like to save for occasions then this is the time to break it out, if not then it might be something to pop on your Christmas list!
My favourites are MAC ‘Blankety’ and Charlotte Tilbury ‘B*tch Perfect’.
Illamasqua Beyond Powder – OMG
Going a little more specific with this one because I think everyone needs this product in their life, particularly for special occasions!
The Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter in the shade OMG is a champagne coloured highlighting powder, it is very finely milled and has a sheen/shine opposed to a shimmer with a chunky glitter, making it look warm and natural.
This colour really pops on all skin tones and can be done naturally or built up for a bold glow, after all, Christmas is all about sparkly and shiny things!
If your budget has already been blown and the £27.00 price tag isn’t going to work for you, the Tanya Burr Illuminating Face Powder in Champagne Shimmer is a good dupe!
Warm Toned Eyeshadow
Seen as we’re keeping the lip simple for eating purposes on Christmas Day, it’s time to make a statement with the eyes. Winter time is all about the warm-toned eyeshadow like the burnt oranges and the cranberry shades, so palettes like the Urban Decay Naked Heat and Violet Voss Holy Grail are great choices.
If you want to make your makeup look extra special for the big day or any parties around the festive time then lashes are an essential. Individual lashes or lash extensions are an option if you want fuller, longer lashes with no work for a long time but for a one-off occasion, strip lashes are an ideal option!
I personally like lots of different strip lash brands and never really spend very much, the Eylure ones always serve me well!
So, they’re my Christmas makeup must-haves if you want to feel extra special across the festive season!
