5 Perks to Being Single At Christmas

Let’s be honest, being single at Christmas is not that great and with this being my first Christmas single in 3 years, I’m not overly looking forward to it.

I thought I’d try and lighten my own mood and anyone else’s who’s not looking forward to a single Christmas by sharing 5 perks to being single during the festive season!

1. You’re Going to Save a Fortune

Seriously, if this isn’t the biggest perk to being single at Christmas then I don’t know what is!

Not only will I not be buying for my ex, I also don’t have to buy for all of his family like I used to, so I’m definitely going to be saving money this Christmas!

2. You Don’t Have to Pretend You Like the Gifts They Got You

My ex was not great at buying gifts by himself. I ended up telling him what I wanted every year and then not being surprised at all when that’s what I got and on the odd occasion he did buy me something he’d thought of himself, it was usually received with fake excitement – he really didn’t know what I liked at all!

3. You’ve Got Half the Christmas Cards to Write

Not only do you not have to write Christmas cards for your ex and his family, you also don’t have to write all of his cards for work colleagues either… or was it just me that ended up doing that?

4. You Can Plan Christmas Day Around Your Own Family

When you’re in a relationship, Christmas Day can be a bit tricky if you can’t agree on where you’re spending it but being single means no hassle – you can spend it where you want!

I used to end up being away from my family for hours on Christmas Day to be with my ex but this year, I’ll get to enjoy being with them all day!

5. You Can Party As Much As You Please

There’s a lot of couple things to do at Christmas that are all very romantic and lovely but the festive season is for partying and when you’re single, you’re free to party as much as you want over the Christmas period without worrying what your other half has planned!

I know they’re pretty weak reasons to be happy about being single at Christmas but let’s be honest, it’s a tough time of year, especially when your break up is fresh, so a bit of a laugh is bound to make it all a little easier!

Do you have any top tips for embracing the single life at Christmas? Let me know!
