My acne has been blamed on everything under the sun. It’s been blamed on my age, my diet, my hormones, my Coeliac Disease, the fact my dad had it but truth be told, I don’t care why I have it, I’d just like it to go.
I don’t think there’s a miracle cure for acne and I don’t really want to resort to medication as I take enough tablets already, so I’ve tried to find a skincare routine that just keeps the spots at bay.
I still get flare ups and have a lot of scarring but I find these products tend to keep my skin steady and balanced.
Simple Kind to Skin Moisturising Facial Wash
When I’m in the shower and want to remove my makeup or just give my face a wash, I use the Simple Kind to Skin Moisturising Face Wash. This is super gentle and plain which helps with sensitive or easily irritated skin like acne prone skin.
It doesn’t smell the best but it does leave my skin feeling super clean.
Garnier Pure Active Daily Deep Pore Wash
This Garnier exfoliating face wash has small beads for getting rid of dead skin but although it says to use daily, I use it after washing my face every other day to smooth the texture of my skin and give my face a super deep clean.
Your Good Skin Micellar Water
I used to use the Garnier Micellar water but after hearing some bad rumours about it being harsh on the skin, I went back to one of my favourite brands, Your Good Skin.
I love all their products and the Micellar Water is no exception. I use this on cotton wool to remove my makeup if I’m not having a shower or I’ll remove any excess dirt or eye makeup using this.
It’s gentle on skin yet still super effective.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Toner
I’m rubbish at remembering to use toner in my skincare routine but when I do, I’ve been enjoying the La Roche Posay Effacalar Toner.
It does sting a bit on acne prone skin, especially if you’ve got open pores or spots but La Roche Posay is designed for acne prone skin, so you can rest assured the stinging isn’t anything to worry about.
Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser
I have spent so much on fancy moisturisers over the year but in the end I always go back to my Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser because it’s so affordable and so good.
It hydrates my skin quickly and easily without feeling heavy or oily and one bottle lasts me ages!
Angela Langford Bloom & Glow Face Oil
If I want to add an extra bit of wow to my moisturiser, I’ll add a few drops of the Angela Langford Bloom & Glow Face Oil which is amazing for intensely moisturising and nourishing the skin.
This handmade, vegan skincare line is made my previous Masterchef contestant, Angela Langford who makes all her products herself, hence they’re such high quality!
If I want to use a face mask, I love the Garnier Moisture Bomb tissue masks, particularly the new ones that you mix the serum with the mask yourself, they’re amazing to use pre-makeup for added glow!
