I really do love when I order something from the likes of Beauty Bay or Cult Beauty and get free beauty samples in the package, it’s like a surprise gift.
At one time, they would’ve got thrown away, or shoved in a draw, but now I really make the most of it and put a lot of them to the test.
I know what they’re doing, and it’s the same with all the beauty advent calendars(which I also love), they work on the idea that I’ll use the sample, love it and purchase the full size… and would you look at that, it works!
I thought it’d be interesting to share with you some of the sample products I’ve been trying recently, and let you know what I think, and whether their plan has worked… will be purchasing the full size??
I’ll be honest, not sure what the ‘daily essentials’ are, but my skin is pretty chuffed to have them never the less.
First off, for a sample, this is massive, I’d say it’s nearer a travel size, which considering it was free, is pretty good… kind of wishing I’d saved it until I went on holiday!
I tried a sample of the Alpha H triple action cleanser which was a lot smaller and I finished a while back, and I really liked it so decided to try this moisturiser, and so far, so good.
I’ve been mixing this half and half with my regular Superdrug Vitamin E Radiance Moisture Cream, to ease my skin in gently as it’s quite sensitive to new products, and so far things are looking good.
My skin is looking bright and plump when I use this, and I think this combination is making it glowy.
Alpha H Liquid Gold
I got this out of the M&S beauty advent calendar at Christmas, and I was so excited as I’d heard so much hype, but it sat in my drawer for ages as to be honest, I don’t really get it.
I’ve heard so many people rave about it, so when I got such a good sized sample to try, I was really keen, but I just couldn’t figure out when or how to use it, and the benefits to it.
I’ve used it once on cleansed skin, wiping it on with a cotton pad.
First Note – IT STINGS!! Is that normal?? It may have creeped into a few open pores or spots but good gracious, it stung!
Second Note – nothing, it appears to have done nothing.. but to be fair, I don’t know what I’m looking for.
I have 99% of this little bottle left, and really want to join in with the hype, so any Liquid Gold experts, if you could give me all the details, that’d be fab!
Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion
Now, I understand how to use this one, it sells its self kind of like a second cleanse, so like a last step before you move on from cleansing.
I don’t really feel it added anything to my skincare routine, it didn’t make my skin feel or look cleaner or clearer and I just haven’t found myself reaching for it.
Rodial Super Acids X-treme Acid Rush Peel
Initially this product made me very nervous, after all, the concept of putting acid on my face, is bound to make me a little apprehensive.
I’ve used it once, my acne was quite bad but mainly, I had a lot of blackheads and blocked pores that I wanted to clear.
I followed the instructions and applied a layer to my face, left for 10 or so minutes, and then removed with a cloth and warm water.
My skin did feel very clean, but not clearer. Bit OTT but it softened a lot of pustules on my skin and made them easier to clear, so that is always a win!
Rituals Magic Touch Body Cream
This is another product I got in the M&S advent calendar, so it’s quite a big sample size.
I’m rubbish at using body cream, I have loads and they rarely get used, but I decided to try this after I had a bath once as my skin felt dry and it is lovely!
Smells incredible, goes on and blends into the skin really easily, and it isn’t sticky or wet feeling at all!
Overall, I’m glad I’ve had the chance to try all of these, but some of them I will be purchasing and others I will not.
I definitely think I’ll buy a full size of the rituals body cream, and probably the Alpha H daily essentials moisturiser.
I’m not sure about the Rodial acid peel yet, or the Alpha H liquid gold, I need to try those products more.
If you’ve tried any sample products and ended up loving it, let me know!
