I had a feeling there was some in Fleur De Force’s first book, ‘The Glam Guide’, and as I thought, there was!
There’s 3 hair mask recipes for different hair kinds in that book, and they’re all so simple, just using ingredients you’ll have in the house, or if not, they’re easy to get hold of from your local supermarket.
I decided to try the Moisture Mask as I wanted to sort my dry, brittle hair, but I also had all the ingredients in.
For this Mask you will need:
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 very ripe banana
1 tablespoon of honey
Basically, all you do is throw them all in a blender until it’s a smooth texture!
I brushed all my hair out first with a big paddle brush.
I’m not exactly sure the correct way to apply this, although the book states to apply to your lengths and ends.
It’s quite a runny texture so I poured little bits into my hands and rubbed it in. This got really messy so I’d recommend either standing in the bath or over the sink!
I then twisted my hair and secured it with a clip.
The book says to leave it for 20-30 minutes but in total I think mine was in about 40 minutes… (I’ll be honest, I lost track of time).
Fleur then recommends to shampoo out twice which is what I did, and then I conditioned my hair too. I really worked the shampoo in to make sure I got all the mask out.
I used the Charles Worthington Shine Booster shampoo and conditioner which I believe has now been discontinued and replaced with another range.
When I got out the shower, I gave my hair a really good towel dry, brushed it out with a wet brush and then left it to air for 5 minutes like I always do.
I then blow dried my hair. I added no product as I wanted to see the true results of the mask. I sectioned my hair into thin sections and blow dried each one really well to avoid leaving any oils behind.
The final result??? AMAZING! My hair has never felt so soft and nourished! I’ve tried all sorts of professional and expensive hair oils and treatments to try and achieve the same result, but this mask tops them all.
My hair feels really strong and looks so smooth, I genuinely can’t believe how amazing the mask is!
I would highly recommend trying this mask, and picking up The Glam Guide by Fleur, its such a lovely ‘coffee table book’!
If you’d like me to test any other DIY hair or skin treatments, let me know and I’d love to give them a go!
